FAQ

What is leadership coaching?

Leadership coaching is a partnership focused on helping you lead people well and authentically. As a coach, my role is to clear away noise and guide you to find the answers inside yourself, not to tell you what to do. Together we work through what you’re up against: making decisions under pressure, building trust with your team amid constant change, and shifting your energy from putting out fires to what really matters. I’m here to help you figure out the kind of leader you actually want to be and build the skills you need to get there.

Do I need coaching?

Everyone can benefit from coaching; there’s no such thing as a leader who’s learned everything they need to know. The better question is if you’re ready to take an honest look at your patterns and get curious about what could change. With leadership coaching, I don’t hand you the answers; we work together to find the best solutions. Because you come to sessions ready to do the work, your new habits stick.

What’s the difference between a leadership coach and an executive coach?

Executive coaches typically work with senior leaders on strategy and influence at the top of the organization. I work with new and mid-level managers, often in startup and tech (design, product, engineering, data), who are building the fundamentals of leading people, growing the kind of skills that aren’t taught in management training, and navigating change without much supportive structure. My background is in UX leadership, and I know what it feels like as a manager or director to get squeezed between C-suite demands and a team feeling the brunt of constant change.

How is this different from other kinds of coaching?

The difference is in the focus. Executive coaches are focused on the top, and life coaches work on the whole person on a journey to personal fulfillment. Leadership coaching lands smack in the middle: I work with managers and directors who are between starting out and burned out, navigating change of all kinds and figuring out their authentic leadership style.

What is organizational development coaching?

Organizational development (OD) coaching looks at the systems around a leader, not just the leader themselves. Individual coaching helps one person grow. OD coaching builds a better structure so the next person promoted to that seat, and everyone in that leader’s ecosystem, don’t hit the same wall. If managers are constantly being lost to burnout or company changes keep going sideways instead of sticking, that’s usually a structural problem, not a personal one. OD coaching is how to fix the system and structure.
